Dad and the Christmas bear

Today would have been my father's 98th birthday.  Here's one of my favorite photos of him. The Christmas bear now lives at our house.

Tuesday is Flag Day, a holiday that few people even recognize, let alone celebrate.  I'm not big on Flag Day (not sure what you're supposed to do to observe it -- say the Pledge of Allegiance?)  but I do love flags, so here's a week of them for your patriotic pleasure.

In my collaboration with Linda McLaughlin, we're doing river images this week.  My big river is the Ohio; Linda's is the Snake.  Rivers tend to be in the news when they flood, as mine did earlier this year, and also tend to be more photogenic in a fascinating/horrifying sort of way.  The water has gone down now, and we're all thankful.

Haiku -- waterways

The found haiku reads:

it's the same old talk
same old view of the canal
some work at the docks
