When I started my daily map project on New Year's Day, I knew that it would be different from all my previous years of daily art, because it doesn't specify a single format. Instead, I'm making a map a day, but they don't all look the same.
Some are drawn into sketchbooks, some are pasted onto cards, some are one-of-a-kind sculptures, books, weavings, collages or paintings. Sometimes I just work for a while on a large map project, without finishing it that day. Sometimes I make pages that will eventually be bound into a book.
So this blog, which was established many years ago to document my daily art, isn't going to look the same in 2018 as it has in the past. I realized this in January, and decided I just wouldn't post anything on the map project -- it would be so much easier. But now I've realized that I don't like that approach. I like to have the daily record posted in public. So I'm trying to get everything photographed, or for projects that haven't been finished yet, at least written down.
This is going to take me a while. So if you're looking for maps and instead finding gaps, please accept my apology. I'm scanning and photographing and posting as fast as I can. Eventually everything will be up for the world to see.
